About me
I'm Hrvoje Markovic, currently a high school senior in Zagreb, Croatia. I've been a freelance web designer since 2006.
I made my first site about the end of 2004. It was a site just for me and my friends. The design was quite horrible. At the beginning of 2005, I started to learn proper web design. My designs were more aesthetically pleasing, and the structure of the pages I made were getting better and better. I tore my old site down with a grin of satisfaction.
Making websites is the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning. I constantly think of how to improve existing designs and ideas, and how to improve accessibility. The days of sites telling you to adjust your browser to a certain width are long gone, and so much for the better.
The name
If you didn't ask yourself as soon as you entered the site, by now you probably have. What kind of a name for a site is Croatiankid Designs?
I first used "croatiankid" at around 2000-2001, as an email address with a then very popular webmail service. I thought it had a cool ring to it. I've been using it ever since. Anyway, when I decided to make a website with my own domain, it seemed only natural for it to be what I had been using as my email address for about 5 years.
That thing to the left of "Croatiankid designs" is my logo, which appears on my business card.
The site
This site is an online showcase of my services and portfolio. The current design was implemented on April 30, 2007.
